Doctor, Lawyer… Public Servant?

When my husband and I first told our family we were building a home on a golf course, they were shocked.  “Isn’t that for doctors and lawyers?  Don’t you have to be rich for that?”  they asked.  At River’s Crossing you don’t have to be exceptionally wealthy, and you don’t have to build a huge home, I said.

“But what about the kids?  Won’t they get pegged off with golf balls and get in trouble all the time for being too noisy?”  I pointed out the generous green spaces between many of the lots and the golf course and that the community is family friendly.

Golf course living isn’t only for the elite.  River’s Crossing aims to build a community that’s affordable and welcoming to a diversity of people, including public servants like my husband and I.

“Right now we’re offering home and lot packages starting at $375,000 plus taxes,” says Brandi O’Neill, River’s Crossing’s Sales Manager and Principal Designer.

“With two bedrooms on the main floor and two more downstairs, this plan is perfect for retirees who want a tidy home that’s large enough to host their kids and grandkids on the holidays,” she says.  The 1049 sq ft (on the main) plan includes an attached garage and a basement with room for two more bedrooms and a family room.

“We have another package designed with a family in mind,” says O’Neill.  The 742 sq ft main level includes the kitchen, dining and living rooms and a powder room.  There are three bedrooms upstairs and room for another bedroom and family room downstairs.

Both plans are fully customizable through our in-house design team.  If you still need help making it happen, River's Crossing is one of Cranbrook's only neighbourhood's zoned for secondary suites.

Since we were first married, Tom and my parents and I always joked about moving my parents in.  When we started looking at lots at River's Crossing we explored the idea more seriously, and decided to build a suite above the garage for them.

It not only made the move more economically feasible, it improved quality of life for all of us, most importantly for the kids, who have not two, but four adults to look to for guidance and comfort.

Business owners, tradespeople, police officers and retired teachers have all made their home in our community and it’s this diversity that makes it a special place to live.
